The National Endowment for the Arts features Barbara on their website video The Artist’s Role in the Community as part of the NEA Arts Magazine “In this video we hear from a unique group of artists and art administrators including innovative musician Andrew Bird and renowned painter Barbara Ernst Prey.”

Barbara is included in the recently released book, 100 Artists of New England, available in bookstores.

Ongoing

Washington DC: In celebration of its 50th anniversary, NASA, in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, has launched a national traveling exhibit.  The exhibition features 75 works of art including Barbara’s x-43, as well as works by other noted NASA artists. The exhibit will be at the National Air and Space Museum in May 2011.

December 2008/January 2009

Barbara has been appointed by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve on the National Council on the Arts, the advisory body of the National Endowment for the Arts.  The Council consists of 14 members from the Arts community. Previous council members include Marian Anderson, Leonard Bernstein, John Steinbeck, and Isaac Stern.

November 2008

Steven Heller, in his New York Times Book Review of NASA|Art: 50 Years of Exploration (Abrams), highlights Barbara’s NASA commissioned painting of the x-43. Newsday also featured Barbara and her NASA commissioned painting of the x-43 in an article titled Portrait of Speed. Click here to view the article

November 2008

Barbara’s NASA commissioned paintings of the x-43 and The Columbia Tribute (on exhibit at the Kennedy Space Center) are included in the new book NASA|ART: 50 Years of Exploration. (Harry N. Abrams, 2008). Available at bookstores.

October 2008

The U.S. State Department’s Art in Embassies Program has added thirty of Barbara’s prints to their Embassy and Consulate collections worldwide including Abu Dhabi, Athens, Baghdad, Bogata, Buenos Aires, Cairo, Caracas, Lima, Madrid, Mexico City, Rangoon, Seoul and Tunis.

Barbara’s NASA commission of the x-43, the fastest aircraft in the world will be included in NASA|ART: 50 Years of Exploration.

September 2008

In celebration of its 50th anniversary this year, NASA in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum has launched a national traveling exhibit.  The exhibition features approximately 75 artworks including Barbara’s x-43 as well as works by other NASA artists such as Annie Leibowitz, Nam June Paik, Robert Rauschenberg, Norman Rockwell and Andy Warhol.
